KünstlerstatementMy work originates from documentary art.
I observe, I document, I archive and I generate artistic output via all kinds of media (mainly video and photography).
Observation is a crutial part in my art, since I react more or less directly to things in my environment (objects, people, words, sounds, behaviour, culture, food,...) which strike me or draw my attention.
Usually these are not the loud things, that scream for you to notice, but the quiet things that stick like a limpet when others have long faded from memory.
These are the things I work with.
I put them in a different context – time, location, signification – and expose them to the recipient.
In addition I sometimes interact with my environment or things contained, in performances or staged situations, using my "alter ego" as some kind of "video canvas", where new meaning can be projeted on to or generated through it.
Every space has its story to tell, so I watch, listen and interact.
